Accessing AI Assist

You can access AI Assist from anywhere in Velocity by clicking the magic wand icon (🪄). This opens the AI Assist modal, which is both movable and resizable so you can position it wherever works best for your workflow. If you have connected both ChatGPT and Gemini, you can select your preferred provider from a dropdown menu within the modal.

What You Can Do with AI Assist

• Generate content: Enter a prompt and click generate to create AI-written text for emails, notes, or communications.
• Use pre-built prompts: AI Assist includes popular prompts tailored specifically to the mortgage industry.
• Select a tone: Quickly adjust the tone of your AI-generated response to match your communication style.
• Edit selected text: Highlight any portion of the generated message, click “Edit Selected,” and use prompts to make it shorter, longer, change the tone, or do a complete rewrite.
• Copy and paste: Once satisfied, copy the generated text directly into your email window, CRM, or lender notes section.
• Discard and regenerate: If the output doesn’t meet your needs, adjust your prompt and generate again, or discard to start fresh.

Where to Use AI Assist

AI Assist works throughout Velocity, including within the Client Experience. After adding a borrower (first name, last name, and email), you can select an email template and then use AI Assist to edit sections of that template or generate entirely new content. This ensures you’re always providing polished, professional communications to your clients.

Understanding Placeholders

When AI Assist generates content, you may notice two types of placeholders:

• Merge tags (% symbol): These pull data automatically from your system. You can copy and paste messages containing merge tags directly into your Client Experience or workflow templates—the data will populate automatically.
• Square brackets [ ]: These are manual placeholders that require you to edit and fill in the information yourself before sending.

Step 1: Create an OpenAI Account

1. Go to platform.openai.com
2. Click Sign Up to create a new account, or Log In if you already have one.
3. Once logged in, you’ll land on your OpenAI dashboard.

Step 2: Set Up Billing

To use the API, you must purchase tokens. Note that API tokens are billed separately from any ChatGPT Plus subscription you may have.

1. Use the search bar to find the Billing Overview page.
2. Click Add Payment Details and enter your credit card information.
3. Enter an initial purchase amount. You can start with a low amount and add more as needed.
4. Optionally, configure automatic recharge and set a monthly spending limit.

Step 3: Create Your API Key

1. Click API Keys in the left navigation menu (or use the search bar).
2. Click Create New Secret Key.
3. Enter a name for your key and select a project.
4. Click Create Secret Key.
5. Copy your API key immediately and store it somewhere safe. You won’t be able to view it again.

Step 4: Connect to Velocity

1. In Velocity, go to your Settings page.
2. Find the ChatGPT section and click Connect.
3. Paste your API key into the field.
4. Click Connect to confirm.
5. You should see a success message indicating your account is connected.

Step 1: Open Velocity Settings

1. On your Velocity homepage, hover over your initials in the top corner.
2. Click Settings to open the settings page.

Step 2: Get Your Gemini API Key

1. In the Gemini section, click the blue Connect button.
2. In the modal that opens, click Get an API Key.
3. This will open aistudio.google.com in a new browser tab.
4. If you don’t have a Google account, you’ll need to create one first.
5. Click Create API Key.
6. Name your key or select a project.
7. Click Create Key—Gemini will generate your API key.
8. Copy the key by clicking the copy button.

Step 3: Connect to Velocity

1. Return to the Velocity settings tab in your browser.
2. Paste your API key into the field.
3. Click Connect.
4. You should see “Success” displayed in green, confirming your connection.
